I am a beginner swimmer, and feel pretty confident in the water, but have never actually swam the entire length of a swimming pool. How can I start swimming laps? Do I just dive in and do it, or is there a best practice for getting started?
I would suggest building up to full laps by gradually increasing the length you are swimming. First, start by swimming half the length of the pool until you feel strong enough to swim one whole lap. Second, swim one lap withThen continue tacking on a lap as you begin to feel more comfortable.
Most gym or fitness centers have lap pools, or you can find a local public pool which often will have open swim times for anyone to drop in.
