Gym exercises for swimmers
I am trying to mix up my weekly workout schedule, what are some good gym exercises for swimmers? I am looking for different routines using weights and some good ab exercises. I’m fairly strong, but targeting new muscles and switching things up is always good!
I’m not an expert, but any exercise that helps to strengthen your core is a good exercise in my book, as swimming uses a lot of core muscles.
Try these for starters:
Hold a plank
Push-ups with your legs elevated on a stability ball
Core is great, but don't forget your legs! Legs are often one of the most neglected elements of any stroke. For the gym, try: Jump squats, high knee kicks, lunges, pulse squats, calf raises, and side leg raises.
