What is drag?
I am new to swimming and have heard a bunch of unfamiliar terms in my short time on a team. The one that I keep hearing that I don’t understand is drag. What is drag? How does it help?
Drag is the resistance used to slow us down in the water, forcing us to swim harder. Once the drag is reduced, you will find that your stroke is much quicker and stronger. To create drag, swimmers will often layer on two, or even three, swimsuits when training. And in extreme cases, some swimmers refrain from shaving to produce extra drag leading up to a big meet.
